Professional organizations of the United States and Canada recognized the certification of the Mexican Institute of Public Accountants (IMCP), for its acronym in Spanish) through the renewal of their international agreement, derived from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

The new president of the IMCP; José Besil Bardawil, said that this body and the Mexican Committee for International Accounting Practice (Compic, for its acronym in Spanish) signed on November 1, in New York, the third five-year renewal of the Mutual Professional Recognition Agreement (MRA).

Through this agreement, he added, the Professional Certification of the Public Accountant has been recognized and approved since 2002 by the professional bodies of the United States of America and Canada, according to Annex 1210.5 of the NAFTA, on the Cross-Border Trade in Professional Services.

With this signature, he underlined, the IMCP strengthens the professional certification at the national and international level, maintaining itself as the only institution recognized in the last 20 years with the faculty to grant the Professional Certified Public Accountant in Mexico under the terms of the MRA.

“The IMCP is convinced that, working together with the three powers of the Union, we will continue to build with firm actions a competitive Mexico and accountability”, said Besil Bardawil in a statement to President Enrique Peña Nieto, Congress of the Union and the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation.
